I went on a cleaning spree yesterday evening. I removed three large cloth bags full of hardcover books from one of the book shelves. I was not too sad as these particular ones were not old friends as are so many others. Old friends are the books I read and re-read many times. I also winnowed out quite a few paperbacks that have lost their appeal. I took everything to the used book store. I only got $35.00 for them but that was better than I had and…I don’t have the clutter they created since they were not going to be read again.
Rather than make two blogs, one for the picture a day and one regular one, I thought I would combine them both.
I am trying to get up the wherewithal to clean out the closets of clothes again and be more brutal this time. I especially want to get to what is on all the shelving. I never see it hardly ever or think of whatever is there, hence, it needs to go. Someone..anyone of you git over here and help me get a thousand or so books that are in some bookcases (not the ones stored where I have no room for them) out, piled all in one central location and then, re-shelved according to category. I can do it of course but that is a tedious job and I want company. Every time I mention it to friends they back off with the speed of light. I tell them I will do the work..they can sit, drink coke, coffee, water whatever and supervise. I actually mean that but no one believe me and so I keep stalling. Of course I would love company. Even supervision and suggestions..so you bossy ones, come on over.
This photo is of my now 15 year old wooden, jointed and handcrafted (not by me) Cat Fairy. She has a magic wand that will be to your right, that she has raised…all ready to bestow your fondest wish. I should have lowered her arms so you could see the top of her magic wand. But I am learning to do all pictures manually now, and filing them, not just dumping them in..so I don’t want to go back just yet and re-take her picture. Let’s see if I can get it onto this page and I will consider myself as taught well by my boy!
I have a black and white wooden kitty almost like yours. It sits by the fireplace.
A bottle ah pop will be fine, any snacks? The library sounds cool. To me that would be hard rock music to get the spirit moving to tackle a job like that and rocky road icecream…hee hee.
I forgot! Love the kitty fairy! The picture is great. can count her toes!
I\’ll help you if you come and help me :O). The problem being though is I would probably start reading a book and nothing would get done hehe.HugsSherry
Love the kitty fairy. Does she grant a lot of wishes? I\’m like Sherry, I too would start reading and forge to visit. That wouldn\’t be much for the company thing, lol. Hugs, Terry
As I am over my head with the need for reorganizing, and doing just as you mentioned, especially in our bedroom and study, how about we get our computer cameras working, set the volume up and help one another? The fairy cat is adorable and I love the colors. Nice shot of her. The little kitty on my stereo speakers is a nesting kitty, and a reminder of Peachy. The nesting kitty was a gift from a dear friend and also handcrafted from wood.
I had hundreds of books a few years ago and I started cleaning them out the last few years. Most I sold at garage sales and a lot I gave to be taken by friends to various homes. I still have a few favorite at home but I never buy books anymore as I can get anything I want through the library system. I would be happy to come and supervise you. The cat fairy is adorable.
Love the Kitty Fairy. Will come to my house when your done with yours????LOLI also keep the books I like and re-read them.Enjoy your Saturday.
I have been doing this all year and I\’m down to the basics. Of course dealing with all the pictures has frustrated me to no end. Really and truly. I like that fairy kitty, tooo cute. I \’ve caught up with you now I think and have many more places to go but it will have to wait since I am so exhausted today. Muah.Hugs,Linda
I would love to come and help you althouth it be a selfish thought. I know I would sit down and read instead of helping. I ordered Meghan the Twlight Series for Christmas and when they came I started reading them before I gave them to her.Evie
Every time I try to get rid fo stuff I find a reason to keep it….LOL. But a walk down memory lane is always a good one!Hugs
HOW Cute.. I have never heard of a cat fairy before. nice pic! Ber right over to help with the books..one of my best friends is a librarian.. I got experience too! : ) Good luck with your task.
Aww that is cute. Cats are so independent, I would think a cat fairy would only bring you more cat kibble than you would need. I would be asking for a new car etc.. and just keep getting more kibble. Cats don\’t do what you ask them to do! I like it though! I would bring my garbage bags and clear those books for you!!
The pic looks good. My wish is for winning lotto tickets. Hope it comes true.
I love the kitty, I hope it\’s good at granting wishes, though I\’m not sure what I\’d wish for. Have fun with the books – if I come to help, can you come back and help with mine 🙂
Love the kitty fairy! Hey, you know if you want to get rid of those books, you could donate them to a library and get a tax credit! Or you could give them to an assisted living place for the old folks to read and still take a writeoff. I love books, so we almost never get rid of them. We do pass them along to others, though.
It looks like I have missed a lot : ( I scrolled down and read through your page and saw mention of a new camera, but no details. And what is this 365 day project of yours? Also, Photoshop Elements has a great photo cataloging application in it. It\’s what I use to sort my photos. It even sets up the proper folders if you download via the program.
Love the cat fairy. I should clean out my "library" as well, but have a difficult time parting with my books…they are all like old friends. Hubby is complaining because the shelves are sagging…hmmm wonder if we have room to build more shelves. As for the clothes closets….I don\’t even want to go there. I\’ll tackle those in the spring.Have a wonderful Sunday Carole.Hugs and BlessingsKarin
hahah.. love the cat fairy… very cute!!! Well, Mr. Darcy says thanks for the compliment… hehehe.. he is so funny. Good for you with all the cleaning of the books. It is amazing how quickly that can all add up. I so need to do a little closet cleaning myself… but I think it will wait for a bit… ummmmmm till I have some time…. hehehe
