Mopeds

Here’s the problem with riding Mopeds!!!!!!! 

An elderly man on a Moped, looking about 100  years old, pulls up next to
a doctor at a street light.

The  old man looks over at the sleek shiny car and asks, ‘What kind of car
ya got there, sonny?’

The doctor replies, ‘A Ferrari GTO. It  cost half a million dollars !’
‘That’s a lot of money,’ says  the old man. ‘Why does it cost so much?’

‘Because this car  can do up to 320 miles an hour!’ states the doctor
proudly.

The Moped driver asks, ‘Mind if I take a look inside?’

‘No problem,’ replies the doctor.

So the old man pokes  his head in the window and looks around.

Then, sitting  back on his Moped, the old man says,’That’s a pretty nice
car , all  right… But I’ll stick with my Moped!’

Just then the  light changes, so the doctor decides to show the old man
just  what his car can do. He floors it, and within 30 seconds the
speedometer reads 160 mph.

Suddenly, he notices a dot in his  rear view mirror. It seems to be
getting closer!

He slows  down to see what it could be and suddenly…WHOOOOSSSHHH!
Something whips by him going much faster!

‘What on earth  could be going faster than my Ferrari?’ the doctor asks
himself.

He presses harder on the accelerator and takes the Ferrari up to  250 mph.

Then, up ahead of him, he sees that it’s the old man on  the Moped!

Amazed that the Moped could pass his Ferrari, he gives it more gas and passes
the Moped at 275 mph.
He’s feeling  pretty good until he looks in his mirror and sees the old
man gaining on  him AGAIN!

Astounded by the speed of this old guy, he floors  the gas pedal and takes
the Ferrari all the way up to 320  mph.

Not ten seconds later, he sees the Moped bearing  down on him again !

The Ferrari is flat out, and there’s  nothing he can do !

Suddenly, the Moped plows into the back of  his Ferrari, demolishing the
rear end.

The doctor stops and  jumps out and, unbelievably,the old man is still
alive.

He runs up to the banged-up old guy and says, ‘I’m a  doctor…. Is there
anything I can do for you?’

The old man  whispers, ‘Unhook my suspenders from your side view mirror.’

Bugs Bunny on Broadway

Bugs Bunny on Broadway was the name of the show we saw at the Charlotte Symphony in Charlotte NC.

 

There were two acts and two hours of absolute happiness for all of we attendees and believe me, the place was packed.  All of our favorite Bugs cartoons and it was the Charlotte Symphony orchestra who performed the music that had been in the sound tracks, and they did it flawlessly.  They even did "Looney Toons" and "Merrie Melodies" ("That’s all Folks") The show has been seen by two million people since it was first presented in 1990.  I will mention also that I read the original orchestra music was taken away, split electronically, from the cartoon films (we in the audience saw a large screen with the cartoons shown on it) but the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra was playing all of the original music themselves.Mr. George Daugherty, originator of this show, was the Conductor. 

 

 A fascinating fact was reported in The Charlotte Observer, Charlotte’s daily newspaper, that all of the music scores played by that original orchestra in Hollywood many many years ago had not been preserved.  So there were no music sheets/scores to play from.  Hence Mr. Daugherty put fifteen students from the University of Southern California’s film scoring program to work.  In each cartoon those students picked out each instrument’s part by ear.  THINK of how HARD that is!!!  Mr. Daugherty said they were sitting listening over and over again and writing the notes they heard for each instrument down so that a musical score could be created again, and played by anyone. What a wonderful job they did!  And now if you are fortunate enough to have this show come to your city..go.  It’s worth it for two hours of smiles and great music.  You remember probably that the Bugs Bunny cartoons and other Warner Brothers cartoons of course featured classical music. Those cartoons are some folks only acquaintance with Classical music and they don’t even know they are listening to it. 

 

Here is another photo of something in that consignment shop I spoke of yesterday and included pictures from.  It reminded me of another blogger called Gandalf, and his favorite instrument…  one he blogs about often.

 

I slept unmoving all night long and I woke lying on my left side this morning..a furry "hand" on my face was patting me awake.  When I opened my eyes, she was on her side facing me just inches away,and her head was also on a carved out by her section of the other pillow.  Mirroring me.  Sometimes you just want a picture.

 

Just brushed and happy.
