Interesting, isn’t it, how blogs are a slice of the person’s life? Just a bouquet..a vignette. A waft of fragrance for only a few moments and then, it’s done. And it’s amazing the ideas or opinions a reader forms while reading. They may or may not be on the mark. It depends on the writer of the blog and how he or she chooses to express themselves. If the bloggers are simple and direct as they compose their blogs as Jacques Barzun always advocates we should be, then you get the point right away. If they meander..then the point may become lost. But we never know how someone will interpret what we say. Everything goes through a personal filter as it were and comes out according to how the reader thinks. We never really thoroughly know our blog family members because we get just a slice of their lives but we can enjoy and love them for what we are allowed to share.
My Mother’s day gift from the youngest was the 18-200 lens that he gave me several months ago. My middle one assembled a real bed complete (of course) with mattress, and so when I visit, no more air bed. That’s his gift. Believe me, it is much appreciated. "Returns" aren’t in yet for the oldest. But hopefully he will be here this weekend. He hasn’t said. But just in case, I need to look thru the recipes.
I have much to do and get done. I know you do as well. Peace, and long life.
Carole, these close ups are glorious. I am glad he gave you the lens. Matt and I are planning a trip to Peru for June first. Not a romantic trip, but two friends of similar interest traveling together. We are going to the Amazon side of the mountains for a few days, then Cusco and Machu Picchu, Lake Titicaca and then fly over the Nasca lines. I am getting really excited. I haven\’t blogged about it until we are set. Love, Marilyn
Just beautiful. Great post and how true. What lovely gifts from your boys. A nice visit from the oldes would top everything of nicely. Hugs
Your boys are right on the ball! Hope to at least hear from S and who knows what M will do??? It\’s hard finding that special something for my Mom of 92—I usually send her something to eat—maybe something unusual this year??!!!
I sent my children a message the other day telling them not to get me anything for Mother\’s Day. With all the boys being laid off from their jobs they need it for other things. But it sounds like you have wonderful gifts. Your boys are so sweet and thoughtful. You did good mom.HugsSherry
My present to you SIS is to be with your kids and enjoy the day RAIN FREE and sunnny!! My mom got her present from me which was a visit to the hair salon. Her first in almost a year. The next day she went to the hosp in an ambulance… : s I hope she didn\’t over do it.. take care and don\’t work too hard : )
You scared me half to death, Carole! I thought I had missed Mother\’s Day. Now that my heart is beating again…….. I love that shot!
Same here in good old WV rain!!!! Like you I have windows open and I go outside inbetween rains and look at my yard, flowers and transplants I did this year. Sounds like your boys are on the ball for Mother\’s Day. I know you are proud of them. Don\’t know what my kids have in store for me??? They usually surprise me? My Mom is 81 and it gets harder and harder as what to get her. I always get her flowers and usually get her a new book by her favorite author. Anyway here\’s wishing you a Happy Mothers Day. Hugs, Pat
I can almost smell those flowers. I just love those and their fragrance. Wow lenses? That\’s pretty good for a present! One mother\’s day the boys went in together and got me a hunting fishing boat, the kind you inflate and row. That was my best gift. I spent the whole summer out on the various small lakes fishing. Since then I get phone calls apologizing for not sending anything! LOL I think they\’ve heard too many times how I hate the Hallmark holidays!
Dear Carole, My favorite lens is the 80×200 zoom for my Cannon T50 mounted on a Focal 2xConverter cranking it up to a 160×400 zoom that really requires a tripod. Do hope you get some sun soon but in the mean time here is an all time great rain song by Doc Watson http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qyQOCJ4SUSkHave a great day andAs ever be well
I think I am – we are letting Mother\’s Day come and go by this year. I do not feel I want to celebrate Mother\’s Day now. Perhaps my feeling will change once the day gets closing. Who knows! I hope you enjoy your Mother\’s Day… That Jacques barzun has a interesting theory about people\’s writing. Me, I am just happy reading and lucky to communicate with people. Sure there are long stories, short stories, weird stories, etc. but that is who they are. I know in time people share more and more of themselves as time go by and the reader puts the pieces to get a whole image. Purposely? perhaps… to see how reader fits the pieces. I do not think the reader or writer wants meanders. I talk this to one person here. Every person you meet becomes a part of your life even for a second. they could lasting impression or small ones. (In my case, there are some I wish had a small impression!) Anyway, others are just a open BIG book. Lots and lots of information!! I bet you could see the faces I could paste in here, huh? See! you already bonding or should I say we? 🙂
((HUGS)) ooo! those are the little carnations right? they smell so good!you put that very well- the interpret thing, it goes for emails also.
Hi Carole, thanks so much for popping by, the computer problems are sorted out I hope, it was a pretty drastic sort out though – I swopped computers with my son, so now have a much newer faster machine, which seems to be working ok lol I am hoping to get a blog and some pictures up tomorrow, if I can find the disc with the photos on that is!!! Love the picture above xxxxx
boys gifts aren\’t always the shinning diamonds. But they can be very practical.I\’m glad they thought of you. That\’s most important.I agree on the blog thing. I think some people think I\’m looney. Well I am just not that looney.ttee hee hah attfn
I think you are so right about how we know just a little bit about our fellow bloggers. We all have private things that we do not mention in our posts. Some of us are more private than others.I think the bed gift is very uniqe and it would please me and I know you are happy with your camera lens. Maybe you will still get some chocolates. ;-)Hugs,Beth
Great blog Carole. This is such an unusual community. You let out what you want to share and maybe a little that you\’re not aware of.
So much depth, I\’m sure your boys have learnt from you.
Beautifully Written Blog and to very true in what you have said about our Blog Family.I love your Image . Simple and so very Beautiful and so is life sometimes. I need the Sun like you do . Light is filter though my Willow trees in the Summer and so its hard to get the Sun from the West in my House. I always have the blinds right up on that side of the house. .
Woah, what was that? I lost track of what you were saying. I could have sworn there was something important there, just before the lenses and beds bit.;)
I try to be short and to the point and even then I can tell people aren\’t actually reading what I write. Doesn\’t matter, because I write mainly for my own record and so my family knows what I\’m up to. I guess we all have our own unique way.
same here…
O boy when you said a slice of a bloggers vingerette er a waft of….oh I jist love readin between the lines and fill a whole sinario of someone. heh. Our blog family is quite unique. A few serious and some funny and some with allot of insight. We do have a wonderful variety and lovem all!
"Oh, Noah! Oh, Noah!We are a lovely bunch of coconuts here on spaces,
Well said!
We\’ve been having rain and clouds since Thursday. I\’m so ready for sunshine…saw a peek of it today. More rain coming. Your Mother\’s Day gifts sound nice. The lens sounds really nice. And the bed is so sweet, for your comfort. I don\’t know what my children may do…a phone call would be nice.Very nice photo!
Ahhh, the three amigas! : )Very sweet and thought ful gifts from the boys so far. I am glad they are showing their mama the appreciation she deserves.Wishing you some bright, sunny days!Liz
I\’m glad you got such thoughtful gifts my friend. I sure like your picture there…very nice indeed!
I\’m getting all that rain just a few hours before you. It is lush and green in Tennessee these days with no end of rain in sight.
Rain started here tonight. Lovely photo of the flower. Blogs are like photos…a moment of someone\’s life frozen in time. Great gifts by the way!Hugs
I find the slice of life thing interesting.Yes on spaces we can choose what slices we present to others, kinda like publishing a book.I find responses and comments most interesting, they cover a broad spectrum don\’t they. You know, slices of life is really what we have to work with at best,I mean no one knows everything about me but me, or you or whomever, right?It\’s a matter of degree I would say,Still my friends here on spaces are real friends, and so glad I have got a few slices from you and Miss Catt. Hugs to you and scritches to Miss Catt, from me here Alaska
