I am sitting here waiting on the roofers. While I was gone most of the afternoon they left the new shingles in the yard, Not doing my grass/weeds any good so I hope they do get here today. Besides, it will start some locally heavy showers tomorrow. If they don’t get here soon, you know me (those who do) I will call and ask where they are. (P.S. I just called..they are on their way) Then, I will go vote in the local election for City Council. ANY one but the ones in there. They caused red light and speed cameras to be put in this small town with so few accidents at lights etc as to make this camera thing a ruse. It’s for hoped-for revenue only for poor doofus’s who might be going 39 instead of 35. Not safety as they touted. The newspaper said that the speed part will be working in the school zones with no kids even there 24 hours a day, Fine, give the town a deserved reputation for a speed trap.
Magnolia May 2009
I had a super duper day yesterday. It was 90 degrees and hot, yes but sunny and beautiful. Me and whoever it was went off to Knoxville and hit Lowe’s and Home Depot looking for some azaleas, hopefully in the color I already have. Not to be found, no surprise. Mine are not that common a color. But I got others instead and a gardenia at long last. I have been looking for a gardenia, they type I want with smaller camellia sized blooms and I haven’t found any yet until yesterday. All are waiting in their pots with some peat moss (acidity) for planting. BUT best to wait till the roofers come and go. We stopped off for ice cream late in the afternoon and that itself was the first treat of that sort of the year so far. It melted as we tried to eat it. Love that kind of day even if it was too hot.
Hope it is a good day where you are too.
I don\’t know about you , but I love the hot weather especially since of all the rain we have had huh? I love Magnolia\’s don\’t you. I think they smell like lemonade. I use to have them in Virginia but here the winter is too hard on them. In our little town we have 4 stop lights and you go what? Why? You too have a great day and I will be talking about you today. LOL. {{Hugs}} Pat
I love magnolias! I also bought 3 of the smaller gardenias at Lowe\’s last week and they are now covered with buds. I can almost smell\’em – a comfort from my childhood! Having a new roof put on is great – after it\’s done. It disrupts the peace and quiet while in the process! Ya ain\’t gonna find no cookies around here- I\’m on a diet. The skinny jeans in my closet have been calling my name for years and I finally heard\’em! Sending love\’n hugs to ya both!
Dear Carole, Such a sweet magnolia. As ever be well
What a lovely magnolia. I love azaleas too, but have killed everyone I\’ve ever had. Get those roofers moving girl. Don\’t need it raining inside.
We are still awaiting our first significant heat here in New England. For me, spring may remain for as ling as she likes. I love your picture of the magnolia. How beautiful!! I do not believe I have ever seen on here in MA.Have a great day.
I love new flowers. Hubby said if I had my way there would be no grass to mow. tee hee ha hammmmm ice cream… what kind did ya have? I hope the roof is done soon and there is no damage to any of your bushes, flowers and such. Poor Miss Catt will be freaking out with all of the banging and such. Have a beautiful day.
Sounds like you had quite a day yesterday! Nothing on a hot day like ice cream!!! Hope your roofers get it done before the rains set in. It\’s raining here (a little) and we\’re SO grateful for it. Good day to sit and read—but so much to get done first!
Sounds like a frustrating day…I hate waiting on people to show up and finish what they started. Love the photo of the magnolia….they are beautiful trees and glad you finally got your gardenia.Hugs
Ah, Knoxville…..the memories, or I should say memory. I was headed for Virginia Beach on leave and had to get off I-40 when I discovered I cannot see well enough through my eyelids to drive at 75 MPH. On my way towards the motel sign I spotted from the ramp a fine young gentleman gave me an invitation to pay help pay the city’s bills that month for doing 37 in a 30 zone. I think it had a lot to do with my Texas license plates, Virginia driver’s license and cranky attitude after driving 22 hours straight. My ex-wife’s wise mouth and New Jersey accent didn’t help much, either. My current wife went to ETSU and lived in Johnson City for a few years so her Tennessee memories are better than mine.
Happily, I don\’t live in Knoxville. That\’s just where I have the weather posted from.
My Mom always checks the Roanoke weather in the paper for our conditions. That\’s the nearest weather report for area in her local paper and Mom won\’t touch a computer with a 10 foot pole. She\’s always surprised when she calls and we tell her we have a foot of snow while her paper says scattered flurries. Roanoke is 80 miles notheast and nearly 2000 feet lower than we are!
So glad you had a nice day yesterday. It\’s cloudy and chilly in my world today and looks like rain again. Are you ready for the pounding? At least it will be done and the roof will keep you high and dry.Have a great day.Hugs
oh your magnolia blossom is beautiful… living up north, I never knew what they really looked like… hugs to you and ms catt, lottemae
Yes…that\’s my home town. We are in the Valley there. It is so beautiful in that region. I miss being there so much but here where I am is much like it.
WOW that is some picture it is just gorgeous!! Hope the roofing job is over by now an you and Ms Catt can have some peace and quiet. Did someone say ICE CREAM?? Yummy take care : )
You\’re running about fifty degrees warmer then we are…a week of some of the crappiest weather I\’ve seen since late winter is upon us now…did I ever tell you how much I hate that? I think I\’ve have over and over LOL! They shot down that proposal for the camera on the lights here and I\’m ever thankful for that. Like you I think it has nothing to do with safety and more to do with revenue…they don\’t even put lights where they need to here but I digress. I sure love your picture my friend…simply stunning!
I liked the 90\’s to 101 in Vegas where the air was dry, but anywhere else give me air conditioning! Pretty picture. I am so glad you had a great day out with whoever it was….hee hee
Your picture is getting a better time goes by just like a good red winelol! I love the Gardenia and they have a beautiful prefumed.I hope your roofing job is getting done today then you can have a relaxing time with your Miss Catt Sis!XXXOOOO
90 degrees! The high here today is about 55. So jealous.
glad you have had the good weather…not that great here…hope that the roofers get it done before the rain!!~*:.♥.:*~ because you shared a smile :o) someone\’s day got brighter… ~*:.♥.:*~
60 for 2 weeks here and loving it!! Haven\’t seen the sun in 5 days!! I\’ll miss this in August. Roofers are a strange breed! I went for 2 weeks with tarps on my roof! But I\’m sure that it will turn out OK!I always vote against the incumbants and hope for the best!! The new guys can\’t be any worse. Hope you are doing well and as usual, I apologize for not visiting you, On the plus side, I came to give you a warning that one of my dogs might be posting tomorrow. He figured out my new password and begged for a bandaid for his \’typing\’ nose!! Be afraid!! VERY afraid!! LOL!But better him than his step-sister!!!Take care and have a Wonderful rest of the week!!!!Bob~
If you don\’t like the bureaucracy there you might consider moving to Alaska.It\’s here too but you can ignore it easier, or wait a minute, that may be a state of mind LOLHere you can\’t ignore that 60 degrees is a good summer day.Life is rich ain\’t it?
Maybe we should say Wed=quad-paw journal day?
ice cream…melting or freezing is always a treat 🙂
Oh don\’t you love the politicians who do things in the name of public safety when it\’s really for revenue enhancement.. 90 degrees no. Ice cream yes.
Love the magnolia photo; I have some in my album \’Gay\’s Garden\’. Gardenias are one of my favorite. Roof looks great. Sometimes even a diva needs a break; prime ministers are allowed. It\’s in the handbook.
I will bet since I am starting at the bottom and working my way up that your roof is on by now. The magnolia is beautiful!!I am glad to be home.
