When I got my then new We*tin*ho*se HDTV like a year ago last Spring, I spent time grousing about a problem that came with the TV here on the blog… about how the thing would just quit. Stop. Nada. Nothing. Deader than 4 o’clock. No reason that I could discern. I would be watching something and boom..it would go to "off". Found out through a guy who happened to be here for another reason (the TV was perhaps 3 weeks in my house by that time) that it was a sleep timer that had inadvertently been set by the son who set up the TV when it was unboxed. Fine. Got that settled. However, there was another problem that was on-going then as well that the guy could not solve and it still is. That being you use the remote to turn on the TV on and it would instead totally power it off. No little light showing in front..totally powered off. Oooookay. Press the remote or go to the array of buttons and turn it on. (try to)
The orange light comes on..fine. Hit it again, and the thing springs to life. Great. We’re starting to cook with gas now, huh? No. Poof. It goes off completely. Blacker than a black hole in Space. Here we go. Press the button..little light comes on..press again…it powers up. Then..a TV show. Maybe. Multiply this by probably 8-10 times a week for over a year..and that’s what I live with here. I thought it might be the remote. It isn’t. I just found out today what it really is. I almost wish I didn’t know. I used to have a little hope that I could fix it with a new remote. Not in my lifetime.
I went thru that last evening when trying to see the news. It came on all right but I tried to raise the volume. There it goes. Off. Start all over again from powered off for whatever reason. NOW I know thanks to the oldest son who found the answer.
He searched for me and left a link which I will provide for anyone with a We*tin*ho*se HDTV that has the same problem that I have and believe you ME! there are plenty of other people out there with problems. I won’t buy that brand again nor will I go to Be*tB*y. That’s a whole ‘nother issue.
It is a power supply problem to put it mildly. It comes to you defective like that tho they did not know it was defective I am sure until the customers began telling them.. Some have it even worse than *I* do, I will send the link to anyone who wants it. And I might add that the manufacturer is not easily communicated with and you’d better hope you find this out while the thing is still in warranty. Of course YOU are the one responsible for schlepping it back, you do know that..assuming you find out in time.
Oh..last night or perhaps I should say this morning just after 0000 hrs, I went to bed. I had just dropped off to sleep. I know I had, as I had started a dream. It had to do with eyebrows of all things. Mine. Anyway, there I am..on my side on my sunshine soaked fresh air laden pillow that had been out all day…snuggled deeply into it and dreaming when two warm little feet with toes that have points to the ends, placed themselves firmly and implacably on my mouth. That woke me. I looked and the owner of said little feeties head was resting on the end of that fresh aired pillow and her head looked like a little moon rising, with triangle ears sticking up! (ambient light (full moon outside) in the bedroom). If you have to be disturbed, that was a nice and a gentle way to be disturbed by a pet.
AAAh, sorry about your t.V. but the ending was so sweet.Your Kitty is so cute. hope you get your problems fixed with your t.v. or get a new one.
besides the t.v. problems I hope your enjoying your weekend.
Hugs…Colleen
I have been fortunate with my tv. I have two Sony\’s one high def that I have had for about a half a year. Very nice. The other a traditional Sony that I have had for 12 years. Still works great. Never saw a W*st*ngh**s*. I know what you mean about B*st B*y.
Well, who knew W*st*ngh**s* made televisions! I sure didn\’t! Appreciate the heads up re your problems. Miss Catt is too cute for words! Have a great weekend.
Sheesh, I hope they\’ve stopped selling those tv\’s. That\’s absurd! Selling something that knowingly is defective! I\’ll remember that brand when (if) our old RCA dies.
Someone sure looks comfy in that picture.
I love posts like this that start out bad & get my mind stirring…then get all squooshy & cute & my brain twists and gets all confused-LOL!
Problems with electronics make me want to sack out just like that cat! There\’s only one thing worse than working on something of mine and that\’s doing it for my mom! She gets so wound up that you\’d swear the world was about to end…I wish that was an exageration but I asure you it\’s not! We got a new universal remote for our tv and cable and I seem to be the onlye that has that thing figured out. Some how the mystery of how the tv can be off while the cable is on remains a Bermuda Triangle type mystery. Ah well, not the remote that\’s defective this time….
Gosh Carole, that\’s awful. It\’s so bad people don\’t know what to buy anymore. We\’ve had ours for quite a few years now and hopefully we\’ll have for quite a few more.
Thanks for the reminder, I\’m taking my pillows outside right now!
Hugs
Sherry
So sorry to read about the problems with your television, and though we don\’t have that one it is good to have the heads up and knowledge, and I wish you could get yours fixed.
Miss Catt is looking like sleeping beauty…so lovely on the bed.
I knew all along who the true diva in your household was. Miss Catt rules!
I hate that you are having problems with your TV. Mine is a Samsung. I hope I don\’t have any problems happen like that. It would make me sick. Can it be fixed?
There just never seems to be much pride in things that are manufactured goods anymore.
Hugs,
Al
A bad lucky with your TV. These day everything last for short time? this was nothing to do with your talking about it in here..
My golf buggy\’s battery was flatted there not much good to my buggy, a next day I went to the batteries supply shops and I told what happents..
The guy said the manufactures are don\’t make a last long anymore..the next one has date on year 2010..only two year as compared with my old battery was 5 years old…..
Miss catt and you are good company and never heared quarrel with each other though even you were complained with her ha ha ha
Big Hugs, xxxooo
still have older model TVs…no problems…would love to have big screen…on the wish list…
that\’s quite a cat you have…Mr. Cat is with me everywhere I go…when I am outside, he is there…can\’t have an inside cat…husband is very allergic…thinking about where he will bunk down this winter…probably my workshop…I let him in there, now…getting him used to being inside…
have a good rest of the weekend…
LOL…it took me 5 minutes to figure out what We*tin*ho*se was! I didn\’t know they made tvs. What a bummer having a defectivethingie and I spose the warranty is out? I ordered my big screen from Wallyworld online. They delivered it and it\’s been running great. Hope I didn\’t jinx it now ;{My problem is my dish, it looses it\’s signal exactly the times I am watching intently.Full moon + dream of eyebrows + nails in yer lip. OK well now you got me wanting toput my pillers out to air. ha haaa. Tomorrow tomorrow, it\’s only a day away!!!
What a mess!! Makes you want to just say something not at all nice to somebody, to yell right in their face(s) until they get it right. But then, they\’re nowhere to be found. Probably off somewhere sipping tall cool drinks on a beach spending some of the money they made from selling defective merchandise.
Morning Sis.. THANK YOU for tellling us. How else is a consumer to know ahead of a serious poblem. I usually go SONY OR RCA or Magnavox when I buy and YES INDEED I DO NOT BUY from those PEOPLE. Nope it aint happening! Did you know they havea practice of selling things in boxes that have been DROPPED and inside things are dented?? WEll they do! Al is right they take no prode any place anymore.. it sucks.. We may have to buy a new tv becasue of this converter box mess.. UGH. I ahte it.. Sorry for the mispelling.. my eyes won\’t focus o this tiny print this early in the mrning… : )
Good luck with the B*st B*y thing… I\’ve heard and read HORROR stories about their return policies and customer service! 😮
What a bummer. Manufacturers just have no sruples anymore. Miss Catt is just too cute. What a nice way to wake up. Wish I had a line outside I could use, but alas, so such luck. Ground to wet to walk on anyway.
cute!!!!
That is too bad about the tv. Is yours still under warranty?
Warm hug, Frana
I think I would be freaked out if I was woken bu a cat standing on my head.
